In 2014 Reverse Garbage at Addison Road Community Centre in Marrickville put an expression of interest out to Aboriginal artist's to restore a garden that had been built 31 years ago by two other artist's Suzanne Holman & another man based in Sydney.
Disney Penguin Club donated the funds to pay for the restoration and over 8 months Billyara worked on the garden with some volunteers from Reverse Garbage and the local community. He started by digging out by hand & shovel over a tonne of dirt, repairing the damaged statues one by one and gurneying all the dirt, moss and mould that had accumulated over all them years. Once the clean up had been done he added a few new statues and sculpted the Goanna's head as it had originally been some sort of dinosaur that had broken off many years before. They battled the winter weather & a number of setbacks during the painting process and 88 days later this is the outcome!
During the project we used over 100 kgs of concrete, over 100 litres of paint and lots of other materials that would have ended up in landfill.
